Overview:
Designed and fabricated a fully 3D-printed robotic arm and gripper for potential use on the International Space Station as part of the NASA HUNCH Engineering Design Program.
Team role and approach:
As a group, we were tasked with choosing several potential projects to work on over the course of several months, and we ended up choosing the soft robotic arm and gripper project. The project was completed by me and one other person, with me in charge of the arm's design and manufacturing, and the other person in charge of the gripper design and manufacturing.
Results:
We did very well at both regional events we attended, as all of the judges liked our designs, so we ended up getting a chance to attend the final design exhibition at Johnson Space Center, along with 2 other groups that chose the same project as us, out of more than 50 initial teams nationwide that started off designing and building with the same task in mind.
